Spreadsheet Cell Splitter

About this tool

Paste a range of cells from Excel or Google Sheets and get every cell as its own box. Click a box to copy just that value as plain text, with no formatting. It is made for typing spreadsheet data into web forms and other systems one field at a time without switching windows or fighting with hidden spaces.

Everything runs in your browser. Your data is never sent to a server.

How it works

  • Cells copied from a spreadsheet arrive as tab-separated text. A cell that contains a line break or a tab is wrapped in double quotes by the spreadsheet, and this tool reads those quotes correctly, so a multi-line cell stays in one box.
  • Click a box, or focus it and press Enter or Space, to copy its value. Pressing Enter also moves to the next box, so you can alternate between Enter here and Ctrl+V in your form.
  • Copy next and Copy previous step through the cells in the order you choose: across a row first, or down a column first. The box that was copied last is highlighted.
  • What you copy is the text the spreadsheet puts on the clipboard: a formula is copied as its displayed result, and dates and currency keep the format they show on screen. Empty cells are copied as empty text.
  • To keep the page responsive, up to 5,000 cells are shown at once. For a bigger range, paste it in parts.

FAQ

Q. Why do I see only one column?

A. The pasted text had no tab characters, so every line is one cell. Copy the cells directly from the spreadsheet rather than from a file that uses commas; for comma-separated files use the CSV Column Tool.

Q. Does it keep leading zeros?

A. Yes. It copies exactly the text the spreadsheet gave it, so 00123 stays 00123 if the cell displays it that way.

Q. Why is the clipboard copy blocked?

A. Browsers only allow copying after you click or press a key on the page, and some block it in embedded frames. Click a box once on the page itself and try again.
